Hua Du Project, Hua Du, China
Located in Hua Du, a suburb city near Guangzhou, The client – a banker- had already begun construction of routine mixed use facility – a business tower and hotel tower sitting on a mixed use podium. The client asked for something more in the façade. Two basic concepts were provided – a Lantern and a Gem concept.
Lantern Concept:
Addresses the sense of scale, proportions, etc. by adding many mullions and breaking up the façade. It will give the sense that the building is much larger than it is. The spandrels, frame, and glass will incorporate a mullion system/pattern to allow the building to “glow” at night.
Gem Concept
Angle the windows in varied ways within the mullion system so that each pane reflects a different source – like a faceted diamond.
